Unexplained
Really, that's the best word I could come up with. Much of the material here is purely academic and has plenty of fact to back it up. The larger picture it represents is the explanation that I have trouble divining. So take a look around, enjoy yourself a bit, and be sure you have your eyes at full strength because there is enough material here to go blind reading.
If you have something that you think should be listed here, by all means send it my way. I attempt to be completely unbiased in the material I present here - I do have a perception and that does tend to color things no matter what I do. Feel free to correct any biases. Also feel free to be as opinionated as hell in the forums. That's what it's there for.
Contrary to some cult beliefs, the world is not going to end when the Hale-Bop comet returns to earth and drops a plentitude of bald, nike-wearing freaks on our head.
There is however some credence to be given to the date December 23, 2012. What happens at that juncture is anyone's surmise, but it makes for one hell of an interesting read. The parallels in different cultures and the recurrence of the reference to an epoch at this time is a little unnerving. Go ahead, check it out. I dare ya.

  • spontaneous perception of connections and meaningfulness in unrelated phenomena
  • the experience of seeing patterns or connections in random or meaningless data
What's so special about this word?
The term was coined in 1958 by Klaus Conrad, who defined it as the unmotivated seeing of connections accompanied by a specific experience of an abnormal meaningfulness. Conrad originally described this phenomenon in relation to the distortion of reality present in psychosis, but it has become more widely used to describe this tendency in healthy individuals without necessarily implying the presence of neurological or mental illness. In statistics, apophenia would be classed as a Type I error (false alarm). Apophenia is often used as an explanation of paranormal and religious claims. It has been suggested that apophenia is a link between psychosis and creativity.
"Man often becomes what he believes himself to be. If I keep on saying to myself that I cannot do a certain thing, it is possible that I may end by really becoming incapable of doing it. On the contrary, if I have the belief that I can do it, I shall surely acquire the capacity to do it even if I may not have it at the beginning."
Yeah, some smart Hindu with a passion for nationalism said that. What? You don't care? .:sonofb:. OK then, (I think I was possessed there for a second. Creepy.) the following links (Yes, clicks on the nice linksss, preciousss) are of the strange, the paranormal, and yes, even sometimes the macabre >)(< . Just don't call them boring.
"If I have seen far, it is because I have stood upon the shoulders of giants."
Someone having do with Fig Newtons said that once, I think - and boy was he one smart Keebler elf, or she as the case may be. I'm not too familiar with the gender peculiarities of elfs or other mythical creatures. I'll look into it at a later date.
My point is this. If you want to make a good cookie, than you had better know all about the cookies that came before you're tired behind, no matter how half-baked they may have been.
Religion
"Science without religion is lame, religion without science is blind."
Stupid is as stupid does, that's what that poor tired old patent clerk used to say to me. Or was that a man with a different kind of wisdom? In either case, listen up to both. The truth always lies in duality, distinct and inseparable.
If you're going to read just one of these, then that will lead down the path of ignorance. Take knowledge with an easy grace, because only time can temper it before it truly becomes wisdom.
