eh it's no big surprise. lawyers rank among the highest in substance abuse.

so i went to the aic show on monday night. have to say it was among the best shows i've been to, although very strange crowd. many late 30 somethings in flannel. they started off with a heavy plugged in set and ended with angry chair. had a brief video tribute to layne stalye then went to an acoustic set which was absolutely amazing. then went back to a plugged in set ending with rooster and would. it was 2.5 hours in total which is pretty cool these days.

the new lead singer was insane. his harmonies with cantrell fit perfectly. so all in all a great first aic show to go to. i don't know if this will last or not, but if they happen to go to japan you've gotta see them.

You probably don't want to detail to the world your raging junk addiction considering that last bit of news. Of course, then you would be JH level and wouldn't have to fall back on that cushion of a law degree. You'd be rubbing elbows with Corgan. Oooh, Billy!

The drugs and creativity connection is well documented, if not in the archives of Stanford. There's definitely a boost that comes along with a change in mental perception, but posing this question to myself long ago I was reminded of an addage I heard conscerning drugs and enlightenement. Drugs are like a helicopter that takes you to the top of the mountain and shows you the peak, only to drop your ass off back at the bottom to say, "Start walking."

With enough practice and patience you can achieve in reality what is fleeting inebriated. Plus, IMO you can be better sober eventually anyway.

Congrats, btw

seriously--as if we needed another reminder after bradley from sublime, kurt (maybe not technically an od but close enough), jonathan melvoin (keyboardist, smashing pumpkins), and all the other musicians from the past--didn't jimmy od? anyways, it makes me wonder if for many of these musicians heroin and/or other drugs is the only way they could actually tap into their genius. for example, the new show "heroes" which it doesn't sound like you guys get out there, is an amazing new show, and easily rivals lost, if not better. one of the characters named isaac is this artistic genius who can paint the future. he doesn't know what he's painting but we find out during various points in the show that these scenes he paints come true or will come true. the catch is that he can only do this while on heroin. so far, as hard as he tries he can't use his power sober--he has to shoot up in order to paint. i'm sure they're going to develop his character and the heroin will play a large part in this.

but i'm wondering, what is it about drugs that make people more creative--whether music, art, etc.? is their creativity/genius already there but the drugs bring it out or emphasize the talent more?  or is it this sort of "fake" pseudo-creativity that allows the average joe to become a song-writing genius--think steroids for the brain. hell even the skinny ass mcd could probably bench 200 after taking some roids for a few weeks! imagine the tasty riffs that i could come up with after shooting up some smack.

anyways, that's my topic, so long for now.

ps. i passed the bar. i'm now officially a lawyer--i better start acting like one, right?!?!

A sad reminder of what used to be and the dangers of heroin. Hopefully good music also, but I don't know...

Sigh

If ever you have something you want to talk to me about, you know that you can, that I am open and willing to listen to any problem you may have, or anything you hold against me. Anyone outside of any problem between you and me does not exist.

You may want to make sure that the extensions are included in those mp3 files. Some players may be able to figure out that they're mp3s, but unless you've already changed them, the files that you download from the myspace page (not the ones that play in the plugin in the page), do not have a .mp3 on the end of them.

Hell, I was present and I barely remember it. But no matter, I prefer the more classical Fascist Audio Dictators of yesteryear. These cranky new dictators just don't have enough hate to really become a true totalitarian. No, the neo-fascists will have to be satisfied with dominion over their rooms and their own special brand of prevarication.

As to Nick Drake and Elliot Smith: Singer/.Songwriter

Though for true analysis one must consult the Neo Fascist Audio Dictator.  Unfortunately, that man no longer posts here.  Something involving a drunken brawl in my hallway of which I was not present.

I shall be the educator of all things geekish:

/ is a slash. It came about as this clever way to refer to slashdot.  /.

Clever, no? Now, if you don't know what slashdot is, then I have no hope for or help for you.

dweebus you're so lame. hey at least i CAN run, unlike you with your pathetic knee injury. you like to be cool and say you hurt in a football accident, but i know that's not the truth...

if you wanna know how i run...watch the movie chariots of fire...that's how i run yo.

also, just a general question, what's up with all you people and the /[insert word here]. is this some super hip blogging technique i've missed out on?
